Salon Jessica uses an ammonia-free hair color and product line called Organic Color Systems. It uses certified organic ingredients and has been certified cruelty-free and vegan by PETA. OCS is rich in nutrients, vitamins, antioxidants and amino acids.
I will start by telling a little about my story before opening Salon Jessica. I attended the Brown Aveda Institute in Mentor, Ohio in the summer of 2005. Right out of school I started at Adeva Salon and Spa in Oberlin, Ohio. That was an awesome 4 years! My boss and friend Marissa Sliman was my biggest inspiration . I owe a lot of the drive, confidence and passion I possess to her instilling that mindset in me. She pushed us to continue education, took us to multiple hair shows and taught us to take our careers seriously while having tons of fun. Marissa also made me realize my talents and for that I'll always be grateful!
Life is a journey and the path is never exactly straight. I left Ohio and moved to Florida in 2010. There I worked at another Aveda Salon called Magna's Salon. I met some great girls and guys there too. Destination weddings are very common in Florida and we had many bridal parties in our salon. I really enjoy doing Updo's and making brides feel great on their wedding day.
The opportunity arose to be an educator at the Aveda Institute Jacksonville and I was excited to try a new venture. It was a great experience to be on the teaching side of Haircuts and Hair Color. I think it strengthened my skills even more. Going back to the basics gave me a stronger foundation on hair color theory, hair cutting and styling.
In March of 2012, I moved to Nashville, TN. My best friend from high school had been living here for a few years and I knew Nashville would be a great fit for my life too. I Worked at Unruli Salon in Franklin for the last year. I was a color specialist and also got to do a lot of updo's and styling.
In February of 2013, I realized that my true passion goes back to the experiences I had at Adeva Salon and Spa. I was taught to go after my dreams and that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I had the desire to have a salon of my own. The idea was presented to me to look at Salon Suites in Brentwood. It was the perfect fit! Now I am able to use Organic Color Systems in my salon and it has definitely changed my services for the better. OCS has No fumes, no harmful chemicals and ammonia free.
